High-definition video conferencing specialist Vidyo has added iPhone 4S support to its popular VidyoMobile service. The firm has made its new mobile application available through Apple's App Store and the company has already produced a beta version for smartphones that use Google's Android operating system.
Vidyo's system is unique in that it delivers HD video to a number of endpoints and can be run on video screens, laptop and desktop PCs, portable devices and smartphones. It offers a cheaper alternative to some solutions, which require multipoint control units or expensive networking equipment.
The system is aimed at businesses with smaller budgets who want a lower price-point solution that still offers decent functionality. Speaking to Information Week about the new system, Irwin Lazar, vice president and service director at Nemertes Research, said: "Their goal is to enable companies to easily deploy video to everyone. They want to foster video availability to every desktop."
Mobile video conferencing and other communications innovations are helping to drive demand for remote working, which is now being used by 61 per cent of firms, according to new research from WorkSimple.
