A new information governance solution has been unveiled for MS SharePoint.
The product, developed by Autonomy Corporation, is the first to enable real-time, policy-driven control of all SharePoint content, according to the group.
Mike Lynch, chief executive of the firm, said lack of enforcement and a full understanding of information within an organisation can damage attempts to protect it with retention policies.
He added: "Companies must understand that policy matters. Without the appropriate policy applied, they will create 'information anarchy'."
Mr Lynch went on to say the solution, entitled 'Autonomy ControlPoint' automates the consistent application of policy to SharePoint content through a conceptual understanding of information in all file formats and data types.
This week, methods of improving the security of the MS SharePoint document management platform will be featured at the Catalyst Conference Europe 2008 in Prague, which be held between October 21st and 23rd.
The event will also see discussions on communication, collaboration and content management technologies that are currently changing business practices, according to the group.
