Logistics services provider Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) has gained access to multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network services as part of a new deal.

Vodafone Global Enteprise won the contract to provide the company with the fully managed network across 67 countries, in a move which will connect over 400 sites across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

As well as improving the firm's tracking capabilities, the network will allow DPDHL to give employees quicker access to applications and provide vital connectivity to its data centres.

Ralf Weissbeck, managing director of IT services at DPDHL, said the MPLS network would boost both productivity and performance.

He added that the technology "greatly enhances service reliability and performance while effectively reducing costs".

Integrated logistics provider Kuehne and Nagel recently agreed a three-year deal extension with Orange Business Services which will give it access to full MPLS network services.

The company is set to introduce Orange's virtual private network technology.
