Information delivery platform provider Colt has revealed how it has been working to offer its clients low latency connections.

The company has taken up Infinera's optical network systems to ensure that systems, including new fibre routes, can deliver reductions in latency.

Through the agreement with its partner, Colt is now offering services with a measured latency of 4.22 milliseconds between London and Frankfurt, as well as 2.65 milliseconds between Paris and Brussels.

Colt's head of industry practices Terry Quigley said: "When it comes to succeeding in the financial markets, technology - including the underpinning network - is what drives competitive advantage."

He added that Infinera was selected as a partner to give customers the performance they expect.

Colt's work to embrace low latency connections has come after the organisation also announced the launch of new wholesale list prices for its European Ethernet services.

The wholesale tariff comprises Ethernet prices to whole cities.
