IT solutions provider Enventis has revealed that a chemical manufacturer has taken up its multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network services.

Hawkins has signed up to take the infrastructure from the Hickory Tech subsidiary as part of efforts to boost its bandwidth and upgrade its network at all 19 locations it operates in ten states across the US.

Finance & Commerce reports that bandwidth has been doubled at some of its sites.

As well as boosting productivity, it is hoped the use of the MPLS network will allow Hawkins to make use of unified communications services.

Details of the agreement have come after Cable & Wireless Worldwide announced it has extended its seven-year partnership with Philippine Long Distance Telecommunications.

The deal, which will also see the pair add an Asia America Gateway leased line trunk between the Philippines and Hong Kong, will boost the connectivity of many firms across Asia.

It will also allow many to enjoy the benefits of next-generation telecommunications products.
